Just about everyone is familiar with the old Prince Albert tobacco prank. A smart aleck calls a store and asks, “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?” If the clerk replies yes, the prankster adds, “You better let him out before he smothers” and hangs up laughing. It is a well-known prank for two reasons. Prince Albert pipe and cigarette tobacco was sold in the iconic tin can from 1907 to 1987 and a lot of people remember it. The prank itself has been referenced and depicted in movies longer than the time period the package existed.
