God’s Grace Grows Through Grief

“God used Hampton to keep me together,” Alexis Pacheco said while talking about her upcoming book, The Coach’s Widow. The book, which comes out February 14, is about her journey through grief after the untimely death of her husband, the late Jorre McMahan or as he’s known in Hampton, “Coach Mac” in September of 2016.

Pacheco said when her husband passed away during football season, she didn’t think she would go to the Hampton Bulldog football games or be a part of the Hampton community, because she feared it would be too painful.

“But God showed me so much grace in that small amount of time, in that football season through the people of Hampton,” said Pacheco, “I was really thankful for football that season because if it had not been for the team, cheerleaders and the people I would not have been able to keep myself together.”
