America started a new love affair as the twentieth century dawned. The affair took place in darkened rooms filled with strangers and a flickering light and made millions laugh and cry and fall in love over and over again. It was the motion picture. And the work of one brilliant Arkansan, Freeman Owens, would help bring the movies to America and the world in ways it could only dream.
Freeman Owens was an only child born in Pine Bluff in 1890, almost as the motion picture age was born. He attended local schools and was fascinated from a young age as to how things worked.
