Importance of Music

SAS Editorial

For the past year, I’ve been leading worship at a church for the youth. It’s made me think about the importance of music in our lives. We worship through music either by singing or playing an instrument. Music can get us pumped up. It can push us a little farther on the treadmill. The right music can move us to tears. I play several instruments and it’s amazing to see how much of an impact it has.

I’m one to pay attention to what the lyrics say. If the lyrics are bad, I probably won’t like the song. I will admit there’s some good music with bad lyrics I enjoy. I wonder if you sing along to the radio do you know what your singing? Sometimes it’s catchy and we don’t think about it. There’s a few songs I like but when I read the lyrics it changes my view of the song either for the good or bad. A lot of catchy songs seem to be about doing raunchy things or dealing with drugs, etc.
