Bulldogs Advance to Second Round

“Put the Bite on Cross 32-26”

The 2020 version of the Hampton Bulldogs won’t win any beauty contests this season but they sure are beginning to get some looks after beating Cross County 32-26 in Cherry Valley last Friday night. The win sets the Dogs up for a trip to undefeated Bigelow where the 6-5 boys from Hogskin have been made a 4 point favorite against the Panthers.

Last Friday’s game got off to an ugly start for Hampton as the Thunderbirds took the opening kickoff and stuck it right down the throats of the Bulldogs with a 5 play drive that covered 74 yards. The extra point was good and Cross County led 7-0.

Hampton returned the favor with a opening march of their own. A 6 play 58 yard drive that saw Easton Welch sandwich a pair of receptions around an Ashton Rice run and Cymeon McRae did the rest with 3 bullish runs. The TD came from 8 yards out as Big Cym plowed his way to pay dirt leaving a Thunderbird defender planted in the Delta dirt until next spring.
