Bulldogs Get Back on Track Against Lafayette County

After back to back losses to Cross County and Star City the Hampton Bulldogs returned to the win column with a 37-6 thumping of visiting Lafayette County. Both teams got off to a slow start with punts and turnovers dominating the early possessions. Hampton finally reached pay dirt on a 2 play 60 yard drive that consisted of a 22 yard burst by Cymeon McRae and a 38 yard sprint to the end zone by Ashton Rice. The TD came with 2:06 remaining in the 1st quarter and was the lone points of the half for either team.

The Bulldogs started the 2nd half with a 5 play drive that ended with Easton Welch taking the ball around the left side for a 10 yard scoring run. McRae added the 2 point conversion and Hampton led 14-0 halfway through the 3rd quarter. Lafayette County then drove the ensuing possession deep into Bulldog territory before Cymeon McRae struck again. This time from his linebacker position. The Sr. picked off a Cougar pass inside the Hampton 5 yard line to stop the LC threat. That keyed the big drive of the night as Hampton then went 92 yards in 13 plays to take the 20-0 lead on a McRae 4 yard run. Rice added the 2 point play for a 22-0 Bulldog lead early in the 4th quarter.
