Calhoun County Librarians Attend Arkansas Library Association Conference

On Saturday, September 28, Calhoun County Library Director Allie Stevens and Librarian Jamie Hannegan attended the annual conference for the Arkansas Library Association (ArLA). This year’s conference was held in Hot Springs, AR at the Hot Springs Convention Center, and was a joint conference with the Southeastern Library Association, a regional association that serves twelve states in the southeastern part of the country.

During the conference, Jamie and I visited with vendors for many different library products and services. Throughout the day, we attended various sessions related to library work, on topics such as customer service expectations and increasing the reach of Facebook posts for nonprofit organizations. As chair of the Reference and Instruction Services Division of ArLA, I also presided over a business meeting for the division during which we began planning for the 2020 Reference Exchange Day, a day-long event where librarians gather to discuss issues related to reference services and library instruction in various types of libraries. I will continue to serve as Chair of this division through 2020.
