CCSO Responds to Shooting, Investigation Still Ongoing

On September 21, 2020 at approximately 7:15 pm, Deputy Daniel Foster and Sheriff Vernon Morris were dispatched to a residence on Calhoun 83 in reference to a suspected shooting. While in route dispatch advised that the victim was driving to the hospital for a head injury. When Deputy Foster arrived, Thornton Marshal Tommy Stringfellow was already on scene. Foster made contact with the reporting party, and received a statement. A short time later, Chief Deputy Andy Carter arrived at the Dallas County Medical Center to interview the victim on the incident. It was determined that an altercation had taken place at the residence. It was further discovered that after the altercation was over, a firearm was pulled on the victim, and one round was fired at the victim which missed. The suspect then left the residence on foot. The victim was able to drive to the hospital, where treatment was given for injuries sustained during the altercation. There is no further information that can be disclosed at this time due to this being an ongoing investigation. More information will be issued once the investigation is over and the case is closed.
