County ATV Vehicle Stolen and Recovered by CCSO

On 4/22/19, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted and advised that one of the County’s ATV’s was missing. It was stated that the last person to have it was Charlie Hammon while he was working off fines, but he was not authorized to take it home after hours. Sheriff Vernon Morris and Chief Deputy Andy Carter went to the last known address for Hammon. The last contact with Hammon at the residence, he was advised that he was not on the rent lease and he was not to be back at the property. While at the residence, they noticed what appeared to be an ATV concealed in the wood line next to the residence, and it was determined that it was the missing ATV. Th e ATV was then recovered from the wood line, and taken back to the County Shop. At approximately 5:30pm, Chief Deputy Carter and Deputy Daniel Foster met Deputy Jacob Cain to attempt contact with Hammon again. On arrival to the residence, Deputies were able to make contact with Hammon inside the residence along with Kasie Bryant. Both subjects were immediately taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Detention Center. Both are being held on a $10,000 bond.
