Hampton City Council Receives Quote on Computer Project

Bryan Windham, owner of Computer Troubleshooters in El Dorado, spoke to the Hampton city council about Hampton City Hall’s computer system. He gave the council a quote and his findings at city hall.

He said the server was installed in 2008. The end of the server’s life is January 15. Windham said it would need to be replaced to avoid server problems after January 15. He stated the average server life is six to eight years. City hall does not have a firewall to protect against hackers. Windham said that needs to be installed.

The full project list is the following: set up and install new server, replace two computers, upgrade one computer, install a new gigabyte switch, install firewall and access point, set up an on-site server backup, and consolidate all data to folders on the server for backup. The total cost would be $10,728.06.

Windham told the council monthly payments would have to be made for the service. For $195 per month, the system would be monitored by Computer Troubleshooters. For $445 per month, monitoring and remote support would be included. For total support, the monthly cost would be $650.
