Library Receives Census Equity Fund Grant

Library Receives Census Equity Fund Grant

In late March, the library became one of 63 libraries across the country to receive a $2,000 grant to further Census 2020 programming to help ensure a more accurate count of US residents. The grant money was used to purchase 3 laptop computers, a desktop computer, and an iPad to be used to assist patrons with inputting Census data at the library. The deadline for entering Census data has been pushed back to August 14, and once we are able to reopen to the public we will be offering one-on-one assistance with entering the data (a process that takes a maximum of 10 minutes and frequently much less than that). This technology will remain available for in-house use by any patron once the Census deadline has passed. The remaining funds from the grant will be used for refreshments and incentives for those who fill out their Census at the library. If you have any questions or concerns about what data you will be asked to provide or how that data may be used, including how your privacy is being protected, visit 2020census.gov for more information.
