Lightning Damages Thornton Water Treatment Site

The Thornton City Council met in regular session on August 13, 2019 with all council members present. Previous minutes were accepted as printed. Water Supervisor Randy Burke discussed all that had to be repaired or replaced due to 2 recent lightening strikes with the most severe damage done at the Waste Water Treatment site. There were items destroyed also at the city office due to another lightening hit.

Fire Chief and Council Member John Scott explained we will be posting a letter asking citizens to notify the city before burning structures or large debris piles. The fire department has had 2 recent callouts, one of which was a structure set on fire by the owners. He also informed council that the City had delivered water collected twice to the City of Carthage.
