Pictorial Glimpse into the Past
In 2009, a book was published by the South Arkansas Sun that depicts the history of Calhoun County through photographs. Photos were submitted by nation-wide readers of the South Arkansas Sun showcasing landscapes, structures, families, events, and more. In its 111 pages, the book contains more than 700 black and white pictures dating from the late 1800s through the 1970s, each labeled with names, dates, and important information. There are currently two copies of this book available at the Calhoun County Library (one that can be checked out and one for in-library use only), and we are working on acquiring more copies that will be for sale through the Calhoun County Museum.
