Thornton Enforcing Fine for Breaking City Owned Water Meters

The city of Thornton has a problem with customers breaking into city owned water meters. Two years ago, a city ordinance was passed that allows a fine of $500 and possible water shutoff for tampering with water meters. Th e council said it will be enforced.
 
Water supervisor Bobby Cook and Randy Burke told the Th ornton City Council they will be replacing the electrical panel in the first sewer system lift station very soon. Once that happens, Cook and Burke will start getting the second lift station updated.
