Hampton Schools Returning to Five Days

The Hampton School District will go back to five regular school days in the second semester instead of having Fridays as a virtual day. Angie Ferrell and Tara Gates were hired by the board as remote learning tutors to help students who are doing remote learning. Superintendent Doug Worley hopes it will reduce some of the burden on students doing remote learning.

Police Issues Warning to Hampton Residents

To All Hampton Citizens, The Hampton Police Dept. would like to inform you that individuals have been going into unlocked vehicles stealing different type of items. The Hampton Police would like to ask that everyone to start locking their vehicles and taking in all of the Valuables items from the vehicles. Law Enforcement Tracks Down Inmate in Calhoun County

Traffic on Highway 274 West of Hampton and just East of Locus Bayou was interrupted when a prisoner on a work release program decided to make a run for it. Inmate Wayne Corner fled his place of employment in El Dorado on Thursday morning. With the support of Arkansas Game and Fish, Arkansas State Police, Highway Police and Calhoun County Sheriff the area was secured and Arkansas Department of Corrections tracking hounds were deployed to expedite the search. He was recaptured in Calhoun County by law enforcement at 2:00 p.m. Corner was transported to the Maximum Security Unit. Photos by Larry Killian
