Hazel Lavern Lucas

94 of Hampton, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 in El Dorado. She was born August 14, 1924 in Hampton to the late Gordon Holmes and Katherine Garrett Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ray Lucas, two sons James and Edward Lucas, four brothers and seven sisters.

Hazel was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church which she attended for many years. She loved her family in both words and actions and devoted her life unconditionally to all of them. She was a gifted cook and always delighted in having family gatherings. All of her life she was always willing to help anyone that she could. She is survived by one son Donnie Lucas of Hampton; four daughters Doris (Chris Mayhew) Sauer of Miami Springs, Florida, Katherine (Jimmy) Poore of White Hall, Betty Roetzel of Hampton, Teri Lanni of White Hall; daughter-in-law Melrose Lucas of Porter, TX; one sister Audrey Patton of Yorba Linda, California; four grandsons Michael and Greg Bratton, Rodney and Randy Lucas; four granddaughters Shea Simmermacher, Katelyn and Kristen Lanni, Rita Ehler; six great grandchildren and one very special great grandson Lucas Simmermacher.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6PM until 8PM at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services are 2PM Friday at First Baptist Church of Hampton. Burial at Pickett Cemetery. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.net .
