James Travis Grisham (JT),

age 89, passed away

on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation in Little Rock, AR. On February 28, 1952, he married Ophie Grace Williams. Together they had two daughters, Rebecca and Briget, and one son, Terry.

After 42 years, JT retired from Entergy in Little Rock, AR and he and Ophie returned to his childhood home, Locust Bayou. JT was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was a craftsman whose favorite creations were the walking canes he made with deer hooves for handles. He was a devoted husband to Ophie and would do anything for his three beloved children.

JT was preceded in death by his father and mother, Travis and Hattie Grisham, daughter, Briget Grisham, sisters, Mary Helen Thurber and Lillian Sanders. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ophie Grace Grisham, his daughter Rebecca Brawner (Dan), son Terry Grisham (Kami), Grandson Conner Grisham and sister, Audrey Pierce.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 9th, 2019 at Benton Funeral Home on Archer Street, Hampton, AR at 11 am. A graveside service will be held following visitation at 1 pm at Earnest Cemetery, Tinsman, AR. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
