Lou E Hunt

Lou E Hunt was born December 4, 1941 in Fordyce, AR to Clyde and Dora Crowder Hunt. He departed this earth to be with his Lord on December 27, 2018.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; William (Bill) and wife Betty of Malvern, Walter (Raymond), and Richard (widow Jean) of Jacksonville, Texas and Henry and wife Edith of Huntsville, Texas.

Lou is survived by his love and wife of 51 years Melba Walthall Hunt, two daughters and their families. Rhonda and Doug Pettit of Fordyce, grandson Matthew of Shreveport, LA, granddaughter Hannah and great granddaughter Emmalyn of Fordyce; daughter, Stacey Gullett of Cabot, grandsons Rhett and Reid and their father Bryon Gullett, all of Cabot; sister Louise Barnett (Ed) and brother Paul Hunt (Phyllis), all of Jacksonville, Texas and a host of relatives and friends.

Lou joined the Navy upon graduating Fordyce High School. After his tour of service, he went to work for Allied Phone Company, which later became ALLTEL, and is now Windstream. He retired after 40 years of faithful service.

Hobbies included raising quail and pheasants with friend Jim Miller, and most recently raising cattle. He has affectionately been nicknamed Farmer Lou. He has served the Fordyce community for most of his lifetime in various political positions and through his work with the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel in Fordyce with burial at Wright Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
