Margie Lee Nutt Means

Means of Hampton, Arkansas and Arlington, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Margie was born on December 10, 1931 to Cecil and Izola Nutt of Hampton. Margie married J.L. Means, Jr. in Hampton on September 27, 1953. They had three children: Paula Means Bailey (Jim), James Gregory Means (Lisa), and Nancy Means Holley (Kenneth). J.L. and Margie moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to raise and educate their children, before joining their three adult children in Arlington, Virginia. There, they helped care for and were involved with their grandchildren. Margie was the heart of our family. She was a devoted daughter, a caring sister, a loyal wife, a truly amazing mother, and an utterly beloved grandmother. Her beloved J.L. Margie was preceded in death by her husband and their beloved daughter, Paula. Also preceded in death by her great-nephew, Blake Nutt. Margie is survived by her brother Cecil Michael Nutt (Ann); a son, Greg Means of Arlington, Virginia and daughter Nancy Means Holley of Austin, Texas. She leaves behind two beloved nephews Michael Nutt (Cheryl) and Christopher Nutt, all of Hampton as well as great-nephews Brennen, Bryar and Bryce Nutt, Gunner Nutt and a great-niece, Heather Nutt. Margie and J.L.’s grandchildren were their pride and joy. Their first-born grandchild was Atticus Bailey (Arlington, Va.) followed by Avery Bailey (Princeton, New Jersey), Dylan Bailey (Charlottesville, Va.), Julian Means (Arlington, Va.), Patrick Means (Columbia, South Carolina), Emma Holley (San Antonio, Texas), Henry Holley (Dallas, Texas) and Gage Holley (Austin, Texas).

There will be a celebration of life service from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Homes, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. The commital service will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery 401 N. Roosevelt St., Falls Church, VA 22046.
