Bulldogs Advance to Second Round

DD Stephens raced 65 yards for a touchdown on the games 1st play and the Bulldogs were off to the races as they hammered the Cross County Th underbirds 50-2 at Boyd Arnold Stadium last Friday night. The 1st round playoff win sets up a 2nd round showdown with Mineral Springs this Friday in Hampton. Th e Hornets, the 4 seed from the 7-2A conference, knocked the Dogs out of the playoffs last year in round 1 so it should be an exciting contest Friday night.

After the Stephens TD made it 6-0, the Dogs continued their off ensive explosion, scoring 5 more rushing touchdowns and also scoring on a Cymeon McRae interception return to overwhelm the Thunderbirds from Cherry Valley.

Bryce Nutt scored the next Bulldog touchdown on a 23 yard run to make it 14 -0 as the 2 point conversion was carried in by JaQuez Cross. Gauge Welch got the Dogs their 3rd score of the game on a 20 yard run on the option keeper to make it 20-0 as the 2 point conversion failed this time. McRaes’ pick six were the next points to come as he rumbled in on a 15 yard return Stephens took the ball in for the 2 and it was 28-0 Dogs with 4:11 still left in the opening stanza.
