Bulldogs in State Playoffs

It is nice to win no matter where you are playing but it is even nicer to go into the Pirates den and win. The Dogs defeated Emerson, in the first round of the Regionals, 71 to 68 and if there has ever been a last second finish this is one of them.

Hampton had tied the score at 64 to 64 on two free throws but back came the Pirates with two of their own, 66 to 64. Brown got a basket, tied again, the Pirates missed, Hampton’s ball. Traylor got a 2+1 but missed the one. He followed that with a free throw, 69 to 66. Never say die Emerson got two free shots and made both. Brown got an offensive rebound and put it up, no good, Williams was in the right spot, got the rebound and put it through the net as the clock said zero.

Hampton plated from tip-off to the last buzzer. They made mistakes but kept coming back. They got behind but did not panic and came back. Good rebounding by Brown, Williams and Thomas and good defense, by all players, kept them in the game.
