It's easy to get stuck in your ways, especially when it involves children. However, since finishing the 2024-2025 school year after Hampton adopted the year-round schedule, I can say that change can be a good thing. One of the hardest parts of school is coming back after a long break not only for teachers, but also the students. Getting into routine can really put a strain on that first week back. This school year on the other hand has not had as many of those hiccups. The built in breaks throughout the year has changed the fatigue from students and staff to excitement when coming back into the classroom.
This schedule has given parents more flexibility when planning vacations while still keeping their children at almost perfect attendance. As a teacher, I am very intrigued to see how much the students have retained through this shorter summer break. Like I said, change can be a good thing.
