By the time you read this, it would be nice to know that the government shut down is over so they can get back to accomplishing nothing. I am, again, convinced that some of those in congress representing the people are completely bonkers.
The system is broken. Congress is confused and uninformed as to its responsibilities. This did not happen overnight and will not be overcome anytime soon. They keep talking about the constitution and how one side or the other is exceeding its authority. Here's the deep down dirty reality...
The representatives and senators have no respect for the constitution unless it benefits them and not the other side. The rhetoric on the constitution should come from the people as they replace those in congress not willing to be subjected and guided by the same rules and laws they impose on others.
I don't want to hear about healthcare problems or funding when they have their own special healthcare and automatic raises. And, maybe it's time for congress to go home, talk to the people for whom they say they represent and respond accordingly. Go home and spend your own money on food, shelter and utilities instead of the taxpayers funds. This country's government was not formed to support hundreds of politicians for lifelong jobs. Some have never even had a job, much less owned a business and had to earn their way.
If this group of politicians cannot figure out how to come together, make common sense decisions good for the whole country, protect our country from our enemies—they don't even know who they are—foreign and domestic, and have even a half idea and understanding about the constitution they swore to defend then it is high time for a replacement. I am all for term limits for all elected officials.
Our constitution is not a socialist or communistic form of government. It is a Constitutional Republic. Learn history or be prepared to repeat it.
