Elections Have Consequences

Editorial

When I say elections have consequences, it goes both ways. In congress, the democrats lost the majority (though by a small margin) and now whining about not getting what they have been so accustomed to for years. The extreme edges of our country had elections with possible consequences that challenge the basic tenets of our nation, at least as we know it today.

California has passed a proposition that rejects an independent commission that draws district lines. Proposition 50 redraws the lines adding possibly five new democratic seats to congress. What that could mean is that it will be even more difficult for the conservative republican party to win the majority in the house of representatives. You might remember the back and forth with the governor of Texas and California about redrawing distinct lines. This is the first wave... Lawsuits are already been drawn up against it being legal.

So while the west coast is trying to secure the majority in congress, the east coast is trying to change the very fabric of society. New York has elected a Mayor that is one step away from communist. Officially, he claims to be a democratic socialist. A couple of things he wants to do is make city buses free to ride and have city-owned grocery stores around for price controlled food.

A study of history in just about every area of the world reveals when the governments take over businesses and start controlling the basic needs of people in the name of humanitarian support... it just goes sideways. Corruption within the governing party is not far behind, all in the name of compassion and equality. Wait! I think we already have the corruption. And, we already give so much away now that goes to not so needy people or people that just don't want to work because they expect others to take care of their needs.

I can't even begin to start on the benefits we give people around the world who think because the USA is rich they should give to the poor nations with highly corrupt governments.

The needs of many outweigh the needs of the few...???

Study your history!
