Jesus Paid the Price

I was thinking about Palm Sunday. When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the Donkey, some of the people threw their coats on the Donkey’s back for Jesus to sit on. Others threw palm branches on the road ahead on him. They were treating Him as royalty because they just knew He was going to be the King of Israel and bring deliverance to the people. They had seen the mighty miracles he had done and heard his teaching which was beyond anything they had ever heard. Jesus was like no one ever before on this earth, that’s because He was the Son of God but most all of the people didn’t realize that.

As I think about the week Jesus had ahead of Him, it is terrifying. We read about all the torture Jesus went thru but we can’t start to imagine what it was really like. As these people were throwing palm branches and their coats honoring Jesus, they had no idea what was ahead. I can’t stand to think about 40 lashes with a leaded whip. Those men using the whip knew how to tare the flesh. Jesus’ back must have looked like hamburger meat. The pain he was feeling. Then to think about a crown of long thorns being pressed down in his skull, being hit with the fist, spit on and mocked. What did Jesus do to deserve this? Nothing. He had done nothing but good things for people while on earth. He had been lied on, cursed and everything imaginable. I’m sure slot of things Jesus went thru never got written in the Bible. Then being nailed to a cross and hanging there to die with thieves. They did everything they could to destroy him.

You can’t destroy God’s plan. Satan thought he had won the battle when Jesus died but Satan had another thought coming. He had just started a fight that he is still today fighting but will never win. You can’t beat my Lord and Savior. What did Jesus do in those three days he was in the grave? He defeated Satan and won the keys to death, hell and the grave. The veil was rent into meaning you and I can go to the Throne of God anytime we want to and God will hear us. We can feel his presence any time we take the time to get in our prayer closet. Satan just opened a can of worms when he had Jesus crucified. Now we have access to Heavens Doors all the time.

That third day Jesus had accomplished all He had come to earth to do and out of that grave He came. His resurrection means life for you and me. The grave could not hold him and the grave won’t hold you and me if we are children of God. Jesus suffered like no man has ever suffered and why? It was all so you and I can have life eternal in His presence. A life like you and I can’t imagine. It’s ours for the asking. Jesus paid the price now we just have to accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Worship the one who loves you more than anyone else this Easter. That’s Jesus
