Heather from Delta Rivers Nature Center and Little Man the Alligator

Heather from Delta Rivers Nature Center and Little Man the Alligator

For the past 2 weeks, Calhoun County Library has had special visitors from two of The Natural State’s most science-y departments, Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and Arkansas State Parks. Heather Donnelly from Delta Rivers Nature Center brought a giant alligator skin and explored the connections between today’s alligators and dinosaurs through history. Attendees were then able to meet and touch an approximately four year old alligator named Little Man, who lives at the nature center and greets visitors daily. This week, Heather Runyan from Logoly State Park gave library goers a lesson on skull identification, walking attendees through the process of identifying a skull and allowing them to deduce which species each specimen represented.

We have one last program for the 2026 Summer Reading slate. On Friday, join us at 1:00 pm for a Tea Rex Party, with a special guest, snacks, Bingo for Books, grand prize drawings, and more!
