Your Hampton Bulldogs suffered a heartbreaking 36–34 overtime loss to the Parkers Chapel Trojans on Friday night. We battled back from an early 14–0 deficit and finished with 291 yards of offense, including 239 rushing yards. Kypton Rowland scored a touchdown and added the game-tying two-point conversion with 2:11 remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Rowland finished with two rushing touchdowns, 54 rushing yards and 52 passing yards.
Dallas Jimerson scored the our overtime touchdown and was named Offensive Player of the Week, earning the Farm Bureau Game Ball. He rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, averaging 10.4 yards per attempt. Jimerson also caught one pass for 11 yards and finished with a team-high 167 all-purpose yards. Rowland completed seven passes, with DJ Stephens leading the receivers with five catches for 42 yards. Jimerson added one reception for 11 yards, while Tray Brown caught one pass. Together, Jimerson and Rowland accounted for all five of our touchdowns and 208 of the 239 rushing yards.
Artavious Ballard was named Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Dogs with eight tackles, including half a tackle for loss and half a sack. DJ Stephens led the Bulldogs with two tackles for loss and added two solo tackles. Special Teams Player of the Week Tre Lambert contributed four tackles, half a tackle for loss, half a sack and two quarterback hurries. Landon Johnston recorded four tackles, half a tackle for loss and half a sack while playing physical and relentless football on both sides of the ball.
Deshaun Collins recorded three tackles against the Trojans and earned Practice Player of the Week. He will serve as a captain for this week’s game against Gurdon. Our defense finished with five tackles for loss, two sacks and four quarterback hurries.
