National 4-H Week to be Celebrated in Calhoun County

National 4-H Week will be celebrated across the country next week, providing an opportunity to recognize the positive impact 4-H has on youth, families, and communities. Arkansas 4-H, the youth development program of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service, helps young people develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills through hands-on learning experiences.

The program is grounded in the belief that youth learn best by doing. Through clubs, projects, camps, contests, community service, and leadership opportunities, members gain skills that prepare them for success both now and in the future. Arkansas 4-H offers educational experiences in areas including healthy living, science and technology, civic engagement, leadership, agriculture, and the arts.

National 4-H Week serves as a time to celebrate the accomplishments of 4-H members and highlight the opportunities available to young people through the program. Arkansas 4-H leaders note that 4-H helps youth become engaged, healthy, and productive citizens while building confidence and developing skills that benefit their communities.

To kick off the celebration locally, the Calhoun County Extension Office will host the 3rd Annual Calhoun County Clover Hunt on Monday, October 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Calhoun County Courthouse. During the event, 4-H clovers will be hidden around the courthouse grounds for 4-H members to find and exchange for prizes. Participants will also have the chance to search for a special golden clover and win an additional prize.

Current and prospective 4-H members are encouraged to attend and bring friends to join in the fun. The Clover Hunt is a great way to celebrate National 4-H Week and learn more about the opportunities available through Calhoun County 4-H.

Arkansas 4-H is open to youth with a wide variety of interests and provides opportunities for young people to build knowledge, develop leadership abilities, serve their communities, and form lasting friendships. As the premier youth development program in Arkansas, 4-H continues to empower young people to reach their full potential through hands-on learning and positive youth development experiences.
