The Tuesday Ministries at Hampton and Faustina Methodist Churches will celebrate and recognize Irma Sneed and their dedicated volunteers on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 11:45 – 1:00 pm in the Fellowship hall of the church. The Fiesta will include a Mexican stack-up and punch for lunch. Sue Dunn, Janette Goolsby and Pastor Landon Culpepper invite anyone who has contributed to the ministries that started in 2012 to attend.
Irma Sneed will be honored for making over 800 infant and children hats since she joined the ‘hat ladies’ in 2015. The Prayer Shawl ministry expanded into making crochet/ knit/loom hats for Arkansas Children’s hospital in 2015 headed up by Polly Coleman and Carolyn Hopper. Irma Sneed joined later that year. Janette Goolsby took the group to Little Rock to deliver 235 infant , children & teen crochet hats. One year she made over 50 Christmas hats for the NICU unit. Hats have expanded to include crochet/knit/loom hats and go to veterans, hospice and cancer patients. Irma Sneed has designed and made hats for holidays and every year sends a number of Christmas, pumpkin, valentine and other colorful hats for infants and children. Irma furnishes much of the yarn herself. This week we delivered 75 infant hats in honor of Irma Sneed to AR Children’s Hospital. To date the group has delivered over 3,500 hats with over 7000 volunteer hours logged.
Another expansion saw the making of comfort pillows for infants and children for AR Children’s Hospital in 2017. The colorful children’s fabric comfort pillows are invaluable in the orthopedic wing and making children smile, the Volunteer Staff at the Hospital shared recently. Donna Parker and Janette Goolsby began the project, cutting out and sewing the pillow forms. Cecilia Roark heads up the stuffing and distribution for pillows with Irma Sneed and other prayer shawl ladies helping. Emily Hill & Prayer Shawl ladies sew the closing. To date the ministry has distributed almost 2000 pillows to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, hospice and cancer patients. This week they delivered Christian Gilbert delivered 72 colorful pillows, 22 of which were Halloween fabric to AR Children’s Hospital where she is a nurse.
Earlier this year, the Maude Harrell Prayer Shawl Ministry at Hampton/Faustina Methodist Churches passed a milestone on June 16, 2026 by recording the completion of their 1000th prayer shawl. A celebration was held on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Linda Sanders turned in her blue and gold crocheted prayer shawl at just the right time to be labeled number 1000.
The ministry, which began in February, 2012 by Maude Harrell and Janette Goolsby has met continuously on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00. Shelia Thomason, Jan Harrell Strickland and Janette continue in the ministry today since the beginning. Many others have joined the ministry by knitting, crocheting, furnishing yarn, fringing the completed shawls, giving donations, or helping to deliver to those in need. Both Faustina and Hampton congregations bless each prayer shawl before distribution and furnish yarn and materials. Current ministry involves 22 ladies from several denominations.
If you would like to join or need more information about the ministry contact Janette Goolsby or Pastor Landon Culpepper. The church is located at 217 West Main Street; Hampton, AR 71744.
