Calhoun County joined communities across the nation in celebrating National 4-H Week with a series of activities highlighting leadership, service, and the positive impact of 4-H youth throughout the county.

The week began with special recognition from County Judge Floyd Nutt, who signed a proclamation officially designating October 5-9 as National 4-H Week in Calhoun County. The proclamation recognized the contributions of 4-H members and volunteers who are helping young people develop important life skills through hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and community service.

One of the week's most exciting events was the Calhoun County 4-H Clover Quest. Twelve local 4-H members participated in the community-wide scavenger hunt, searching for hidden 4-H clovers around the Courthouse. The activity encouraged teamwork and community engagement while providing participants with a fun way to celebrate 4-H.

Another highlight of the week was "Paint the Town Green Day," which showcased the strong support Calhoun County businesses and community leaders have for local 4-H programs. Participants proudly wore green in recognition of National 4-H Week.

Those helping "paint the town green" included the Calhoun County Courthouse, County Judge Floyd Nutt, County Judge-Elect Jeremy Martin, Keith Newton, the Calhoun County Nutrition Center, Granny's Grill, Generations Bank, Commercial Bank, Nutt's Beauty Center, Cabun Rural Health Services, Calhoun County Farm Bureau, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, SnapNChop, and the Calhoun County Office of Emergency Management.

For more than a century, 4-H has helped young people gain confidence, develop leadership skills, and prepare for the future through educational programs focused on citizenship, healthy living, and STEM learning.

Calhoun County 4-H extends its appreciation to everyone who participated in National 4-H Week activities and supported local youth throughout the celebration. Together, these efforts help ensure that Calhoun County's young people continue to learn, lead, serve, and succeed.
