WASHINGTON Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) leaders Reps. Bruce Westerman (AR-04), Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), Garret Graves (LA-06), and Jared Golden (ME-02) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona expressing concern with how the Department of Education is implementing language within the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) to withhold funds from schools with shooting sports activities in their curriculum. 08/24/2023 04:00 AM

Dr. Tonsil Clinic
Dr. Tonsil Clinic
The most ambitious undertaking in the medical history of Calhoun County came when a “Tonsil Clinic” was held at Hampton School. This was a weeklong affair, for the purpose of removing the tonsils and adenoids of the children in the county. In the 1920s the Public Health Officials decided that removing the tonsils and adenoids was a good way to improve the welfare of the American children. The reasoning was that the tonsils were an entry point for infection and removing them was a good preventive treatment. Tonsillectomies were believed to prevent future infection and improve the overall health of the child and very few children made it through childhood with tonsils intact. A campaign to educate the public started with articles in newspapers explaining the benefits of having children’s tonsils and adenoids removed. 08/17/2023 04:00 AM

Investing in Arkansas Aviation
In the 4th District, we are fortunate to have numerous small and medium-sized airfields that serve Arkansans and visitors from across the country, and we are home to a robust agricultural aviation industry. As such, Congress must make timely and strategic investments that will bolster our aviation capabilities. 08/10/2023 04:00 AM
