Betty Jo Reddin Morrison of Woodberry was born April 22, 1935, at the home of her maternal grandparents located in Tinsman, Arkansas and went to be with our Lord on November 28, 2023. She attended Hampton Elementary School, Fairview Camden, graduating from Farmerville High School. She attained a Bachelor of Education from Arkansas A & M and a Master of Education from Henderson State. Following her graduation from undergraduate school, Betty married the love of her life, James Bradford Morrison. After teaching school in Thornton and Hampton, Arkansas, Houston, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana, she retired with her husband to their Woodberry Farmhouse. 12/07/2023 04:00 AM

85 of Hampton, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 21, 1938 in El Dorado to the late Grady and Ethel Witherington Ponder. Ruby Marie Lindsey
went to her promised heavenly home on Saturday, October 21,2023, at 96 years of age where she was greeted by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of six siblings, Ruby was born on April 2, 1927, to George and Sylvia Stanford in Wayne City, Illinois. A dedicated wife to Charles Lindsey for Fifty Plus years and loving mother to three children, she dedicated her life to serving and caring for others as an accomplished homemaker, president of the mission’s program at First Baptist Church of Nazarene in McAllen, Texas, and faithful volunteer for the Mission Hospital in Mission, Texas. Ruby enjoyed making beautiful things with her hands through sewing, crocheting, and panting, but she also loved to spend time camping, fishing, and playing cards with her family and friends. Her quiet and gentle demeanor impacted each person she encountered. 11/30/2023 04:00 AM

Two 'Greatest Generation' Battleship Gunners from WWII at Veterans Day Observance
H. P. Rowen (Left) served on the USS West Virginia and Dusty Lansdale (Right) served on the USS Maryland. Both battleships survived the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and exacted a terrible revenge on the Japanese Navy. Both veterans were gunners on the legendary 16 inch main guns of those historic battleships. They are the two oldest veterans in the county. 11/30/2023 04:00 AM

Hampton/Faustina United Methodist Churches presented over 50 Cuddly Teddy Bears on November 14, 2023 to the Law Enforcement and Ambulances in Calhoun County. Each agency, Hampton City Police, Calhoun County Sheriff’s office, Arkansas State Troopers, Arkansas Highway Police and Pro-Med Ambulance Service were presented 10 bears each for children they encounter to give them comfort. 11/16/2023 04:00 AM
