An Ankle Monitor

“The smallest show on Branson….So small if you are in the front row you can put your feet on the stage. Sit back, get comfortable and relax… Here comes John Denver…”

“Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountain, Shenandoah River…” His talent was outstanding. He could sing John Denver and the next show sing Glen Campbell (Rhinestone Cowboy). Yet in the midst of it all his desire was to be famous, to think highly of himself, and think that he could do it all. Still, I bought his John Denver CD and enjoyed listening to his many John Denver hits.

A year later l went back to that small Branson Theater and he was gone. He had embezzled funds and was placed on house arrest with an ankle monitor on his leg. “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Jesus put it this way: “Blessed are the poor in spirit (humble) for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. “Matthew 5:3 A humble and contrite repentant) spirit is what Jesus wants from each of us.

How about you? We make our choice. A humble spirit or a self-centered lifestyle
