I Almost Forgot
Christmas is here! Hurry, Hurry, Hurry!!!! Run here and there, shopping for gifts, wrapping gifts, getting things together for Christmas Dinner, Christmas Parties and all the things that goes with Christmas. We are so busy getting all the things ready for that special day. Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. I love it. I love the decorations and all that goes with this time of the year. I started putting up my decorations a few days after the 1st of November. I put a lot of work into it and Rickey, Jason and I want to have time to enjoy it. We turn off the lights in the house and plug in all the Christmas lights and it looks so beautiful. Of Course, I put lights in everything, better not hang around our house very long or you might have lights hanging around your neck. lol
I have to be careful with all the busyness of the season not to forget why we have this wonderful time of the year. What is Christmas all about? It is the celebration of Jesus birth. What does that mean? It means that on that Holy Night when Jesus was born into this world, you and I received hope from that night on. Hope of everlasting life, God’s salvation for man. Jesus left his home in heaven to come into this world so that He could be the ultimate sacrifice for us to receive Salvation. Salvation began on that night and was finished when he rose from the grave. Was Jesus life a life of splendor on this earth? Not at all! He didn’t even have a place to lay his head. He was born in a stable, laid in a manger where animals were fed. He grew up as a carpenter’s son. He faced rejection throughout his whole life. The religious people were trying to find a way to kill him from the time He started his ministry. He fought jealousy from people because of the way God used Him to perform miracles and people began to follow Him and believe his teachings. There is always jealousy when good things are happening. Jesus never hurt anyone. He loved people and always had time to minister to their needs.
How many times have I, and probably most of us, been so caught up with all the activities and busy life at Christmas time that we almost forgot what Christmas is really about? Have you been guilty of leaving the real reason for Christmas out of Christmas? Don’t let that happen this year. Make Jesus your number one guest at your Christmas Dinner and all thru the season. Don’t find yourself saying, “I almost forgot!”
