My Week at the Border

My Week at the Border

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to serve as Civil Air Patrol chaplain at Falcon Virgo in El Paso. I was tasked with several jobs, as needed, one of which was transporting pilots to the airport.

The operations were around the clock so I would go to the airport at all hours of the day. I didn’t mind because they had my favorite coffee there and the brew at the hotel was less than desired. Anyway, I started noticing these tour buses lined up each day near a border patrol building. Four or fi ve would there everyday and gone by the morning.

At first I thought these were tour buses for people getting off planes and continuing on tours of the area. It was an odd place to stage and I never saw anyone during the day, except the drivers. I didn’t think about it much until I saw this unmarked plane (727 size) being prepared for departure. NASA has an aircraft operations area next to where these buses were stationed. The plane being prepared for boarding was at this location.
