Consider the Historic Alternative

Watching the rodeo last week with all the expert riders on horses reminded me that for thousands of years the horse was the method of transit for the world. Only in the past 100 years has the horse been replaced as main mode of transportation. We no longer have streets filled with manure. The proponents of eliminating fossil fuels might want to consider that fragrant alternative. Horses seem be a natural source of energy for propulsion. We even determine the power of fossil fuel vehicles by horse power. Considering that one horse can produce about 12 horsepower, it would take 15-16 horses to equal the horsepower of the average car. Your speed may also drop a bit, at best your average horse might reach a speed of 30 mph. Going back to horses as transportation could be a good thing. It would slow down the traffic and give people a chance to care for live transportation. Though it may not stop the speeders... Did you know the only other President to be arrested was Ulysses S. Grant for speeding with a horse and buggy?
