Bulldogs Win Opener Over Centerpoint 12-10

The Hampton Bulldogs opened the 2020 season last Monday at Boyd Arnold Stadium with a hard fought victory over the Class 3A Centerpoint Knights. It came 3 days late and against a different opponent but it was a great win nonetheless. Originally, Hampton was supposed to be at Mountain Pine to kick off the year but the Red Devils went to 8 man football in early August. Centerpoint stepped in to take Mountain Pines place and the Dogs had quickly stepped up in weight class with the seasoned Knights from Pike County.

The game was hard fought from the beginning as Hampton threatened to score on several occasions in the 1st half but mistakes and a tough Centerpoint defense held the Bulldogs at bay. The Knights got a 37 yard field goal as the horn sounded to lead at the half 3-0
