Officers from the Hampton Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, and Arkansas State Police arrived at the scene and sealed off traffic.
Fatal Accident on Highway 167
On Tuesday at 7:50 p.m., Willie May Momon, 53, was hit by a 2001 GMC vehicle while crossing the street across from Country Liquor in Hampton. Momon was killed instantly by the impact. The vehicle was going down State Highway 167 South and drove the speed limit through the green stoplight. Momon was wearing dark clothes and was not seen by the driver in time.
Hampton Police Officers arrived at the scene to handle traffic until Arkansas State Police and Pro Med Ambulance showed up. Sheriff deputies arrived at the scene to assist. The officers closed off part of the road where Momon was hit. The Arkansas State Police officers handled the investigation after arriving. No charges were made.
