Hampton Baseball Opens Up With New Regulations
Baseball is opening back up in Hampton, but with new regulations. Baseball practice has started, but there will be no games. Lindsey Rowland told the South Arkansas Sun they made calls and did research before making the decision to open.
The Hampton Recreation Board contacted the Arkansas Department of Health. Matt Gilmore from the department told them to use common sense and get the kids out of the house and enjoy. Mike Shumit, director of Arkansas USSSA said as long as the city was fine with it, they could practice only. Mayor Rick Shirron gave the okay to open the park and allow practice.
Due to COVID-19, new regulations must be enforced or be subject to forfeit of practice times:
• Coaches and players only are allowed inside the gate. Parents and guardians must stay in their vehicles in the parking lot.
