Calhoun County Assessor, Teresa Carter, announced that Kinley Shankles of Fordyce is the 2022-23 recipient of the seventeenth annual Borden-McClendon Scholarship.
Calhoun County Recognized as StormReady by NOAA
Calhoun County became recognized as StormReady on September 14, 2023, by working with the National Weather Service Office in Little Rock. Calhoun County completed the necessary requirements, which were created to help community leaders and emergency managers better prepare and respond to hazardous weather impacting the citizens of Calhoun County by ensuring that they have multiple ways to receive and disseminate hazardous weather information. The hard work that Donna Steelman, Calhoun County's OEM Director, put into getting Calhoun County StormReady has the county certified through 2027.
