Calhoun County Court Rules Candidate Ineligible for District Judge Election

RISON - Tom Wynne of Fordyce is the lone candidate left in the state’s 34th Judicial District judge’s race after a special circuit judge ruled last week that his only remaining opponent, Daren Nelson, was not a resident of the district when the filing deadline for the office closed Nov. 12, thereby knocking him from the race.

Wynne and Nelson were two of three candidates who announced their intentions to replace 34th District Judge Ronnie A. Phillips, who is retiring. The third candidate, Thomas Burns of Rison, had previously dropped out of the race.
