Another artifact from the collection of Rex Means (1934-2014) that can be seen at the CalCo Museum is a portable hanging scale courtesy of Ms. Betty Means. It is 1 ¼” by 4 ⅜” with a hanging ring and a hook. A brass plate will indicate the weight on a scale from zero to twenty-four pounds. There were several manufacturers of this same spring scale design of the same time-period. This one was made by Peck, Stow & Wilcox Co (1870-1950) a company formed in 1870 in Southington Connecticut.
