Betty Jo Reddin Morrison

Betty Jo Reddin Morrison

Betty Jo Reddin Morrison of Woodberry was born April 22, 1935, at the home of her maternal grandparents located in Tinsman, Arkansas and went to be with our Lord on November 28, 2023. She attended Hampton Elementary School, Fairview Camden, graduating from Farmerville High School. She attained a Bachelor of Education from Arkansas A & M and a Master of Education from Henderson State. Following her graduation from undergraduate school, Betty married the love of her life, James Bradford Morrison. After teaching school in Thornton and Hampton, Arkansas, Houston, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana, she retired with her husband to their Woodberry Farmhouse.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Morrison, her parents Otis and Alpha Reddin, her sister Judy Oliver, two nephews, and one niece. She is survived by her sons and their wives Jimmy (Rebecca) Morrison, William (Emily) Morrison, and John (Angie) Morrison, nine grandchildren: Joseph Morrison, Kirsten Morrison, Caitlin Morrison, Bradford Morrison, William Morrison, Jesse Morrison, Gracie Morrison, Caleb Morrison, and Christian Morrison, her sister Ira Huggins, and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After rearing her own children, Betty particularly enjoyed her grandchildren's endeavors and rejoiced in their accomplishments. Reading was her favorite pastime and she found pleasure in music participating in her church's choir and listening to her grandchildren practice. She was an extraordinary seamstress stitching everything from barbie clothes to hunting knapsacks. Having crocheted for years and at the age of 80, Betty taught herself to knit, providing everyone a warm winter scarf that Christmas. Her needle will be greatly missed.

A private graveside service honoring her life will be held 10 AM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at New Hope cemetery with Robert Duncan officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joseph, Bradford, William, Jesse, Caleb, and Christian. The family would like to express appreciation to those assisting in Betty's care and wellbeing, particularly in her later years.
