Sue Ann Roark

Sue Ann Roark, 80 of Star City, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Willard Parker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born July 29, 1940 in Calhoun County to the late Vernon Preston and Mary Dovey Callaway Jones.

Sue was a member of First Baptist Church in Star City, where she was a very active member. Sue was a retired cosmetologist, owning and operating Mona Lisa Hair Salon for over 40 years and the Cleopatra Hair Salon in Pine Bluff. Sue and her first husband also owned and operated the Lincoln Ledger Newspaper in Star City for many years. Sue was also very active in the community, serving as a member of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star.

Besides her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her first husband, Gidion Thomas Roark, Sr.; second husband, Rex Roark; and son, Scott Roark. Sue was the last surviving child of 8.

Survivors include a son, Gidion Thomas “Tom” (Sherri) Roark, Jr. of New Roads, LA; adopted daughter, Farimah (Chris) Moldenhauer of Dallas, TX; 7 grandchildren, Casi (Will) Kramer, Gidion Thomas “Tre`” (Shelby) Roark, III, Sherri Roark, Jordan (Brickley) Owen, Turner Roark, Alexa Moldenhauer and Ariana Moldenhauer; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 3:00PM Friday, January 29, 2021 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Calhoun County with Bro. Dennis Dodson officiating. Visitation is 12:00-1:30PM Friday at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City and 2:30- 3:00PM Friday at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Amy’s Animal Rescue of Star City, PO Box 184, Star City, AR 71667.
