William Shannon Evins, Seventh Sheriff of Calhoun County from 1880-1887
William Shannon Evins was born June 30, 1844, in Tennessee, the son of Captain John H. Evins 18181904 and Martha “Mary” J. Shannon 1818-1884. Both of his parents were born in Tennessee. Known siblings were Tennessee E. Evins, born after they moved to Mississippi, John W. Evins, Josephine Evins Douglass, and Mary Theodocia “Dosia” Evins Farrell, 6 months. It isn’t very often I don’t feel like cooking outside, especially when it comes to meat, such as ribs, steak, pork butts or chops. The smoke flavor and the satisfaction of cooking over a grill or smoker is unmatched. However, sometimes we, as mothers and wives have those Saturdays we had rather nap with the kids, do laundry, or catch up on house hold chores we have ignored for months. So, this past Saturday, was one of those for me. A while back, I scored an amazing blue speckled vintage roaster with the lid.
