Calhoun County Jury Finds Defendant, 'Not Guilty'
The first jury trial in Calhoun County since 2015 ended in acquittal. The trial went three days. Jury selection took all day Wednesday. Thursday and Friday morning the case was presented. Friday afternoon was closing statements and charge to the jury. 05/22/2024 11:00 PM

Forty-two seniors will participate in graduation exercises at Hampton High School on Friday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Class Valedictorian, Shakara Miles, and class Salutatorians, Tianna Moore and Alaina Welch, will address the class. William Shannon Evins was born June 30, 1844, in Tennessee, the son of Captain John H. Evins 18181904 and Martha “Mary” J. Shannon 1818-1884. Both of his parents were born in Tennessee. Known siblings were Tennessee E. Evins, born after they moved to Mississippi, John W. Evins, Josephine Evins Douglass, and Mary Theodocia “Dosia” Evins Farrell, 6 months.
