Right photo and below were taken across the road from the gravel pit where the breach took place. The fall garden (right) lost okra, turnip greens watermelons seen in the photo. The okra had new blooms less than a week later. Below is shown fish dead and trees blackened. Just a few hundred yards north on the road, the trees were unaffected. Photos by Larry Killian

NH3 Pipe Breach

At approximately 6:45 PM on Thursday evening, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office received notice of a possible pipeline rupture in the 2300 block of County Road 26 near the city of Harrell, Arkansas. First arriving officers on the scene did in fact find that a pipeline carrying anhydrous ammonia (NH3 ) had been breached and the product was leaking.

What We Don’t Know...

There is a lot going on in congress. If you thought all the fighting was between the Republicans and Democrats, then you are not keeping up. True there is a lot of conflict going between them but there are others in the fight. There is a group that is from high-tax states that insist that the limit on tax deductions be eliminated. There is a progressive group that wants more and think $3.5 tillion is not nearly enough. There is an equal number of democrats that think the amount on the table is way too much. All of these groups are threatening to block the passage of the house bill. At the same time, Ron Wyden (D-OR) who is one of the Senate tax writers, has released a bill of his own.
