Spoken tongue in cheek, the idea of another world war just doesn’t seem real. However, I have friends in the former Soviet Union, and I can tell you that a lot of Russians have drunk the Kool-Aid and believe the propaganda they are being fed. I believe we are a lot closer to a global conflict than we should be. That being said, we can still take comfort in distance and isolation. It was distance that kept us from feeling the full effects of the last two global conflicts. It was also the isolation of our little corner of the world that allowed us to continue on without overwhelming change. Television has had a remarkable power to shape imaginations and public perceptions. For the generation of Americans who grew up watching television, this has been especially true. As TV began to mature in the 1960s, many iconic shows were seen by millions of people that have remained popular even decades after their airing. There is the "female" swimmer breaking records, affirmation of Hunter Biden's laptop being a real thing, constant attack on law enforcement, covid back in the loop and the Vice President awol on just about everything. As Arkansas schools and universities developed, they went through a series of changes in leadership and direction. It took many teachers and administrators to guide schools and colleges through challenges in enrollment, accreditation, and financing to be able to help students move ahead to promising careers. One of these leaders was James R. Grant, who served as president of two Arkansas colleges in their formative years.
